Rob, Sue and Sarah (as a French milice) at Crown Point, 2002.

I met Sue and Rob Rowell at Fort Ti 2000, and then they were at the Fort at No. 4
(these lucky
folks got to sleep IN the fort!!), and again at Crown Point... During the F&I, Rob is with the
27th (Inniskilling) of Foot, British Grenadiers.
The Grenadiers historically were very tall men,
and I was told they had a minimum height requirement of 6'5". Rob is probably one
of the few today who meets that (and this group does not have
such a requirement). Sue, meanwhile, is the perfect F&I wife, looking
very much the part as far as I can tell! These are two really, really sweet people
with a lovely family!!
The photo above is the three of us at Crown Point, August '00. Rob is in his Grenadier's kit, which makes him look even bigger than he already is. I was dressed for fighting with the Canadian milice (militia). For the Revolutionary War, Rob reenacts with the Light Infantry of the 23d Royal Welsh Regiment.

To the right is Sue Rowell preparing ho-cakes, which were baked on a grill
over the fire in the hearth. This is from the great day we had cooking
at the home of Sharon Ann Burnston.
At the bottom of the picture, you can see the plank we used for planking
the fish. Sue also made an apple pie from scratch, cooked in a dutch oven.

The picture below is of me and Sue taken at Crown Point in 2001 (one year after the first picture at the top of this page). I was sick that weekend and couldn't go to battle, so for a pleasant change I had time to sit with Sue and sew shirts and stuff. Sue taught me the right way to do buttonholes! (By the way, some nice civilian took this and emailed it to me. That's so great! Thanks to Gene wherever he is.)
In 2002, Rob and Sue were responsible for the First Annual reenactment of the Salmon Hole Massacre, in Jamaice VT. Click here to read all about that and to see some great pictures. Also in 2002, the Rowells went to Hubbardton (which I was not able to do) and Rob submitted a report on Hubbarton. AND ALSO in 2002, Rob and Sue renewed their wedding vows in a marriage ceremony at Fort 4. Pictures of THAT coming soon.
