| The following two pictures are from the 18th century wedding of Horst Dresler and Deb Goodman, which was held at Fort Louisbourg Grand Encampment, June '99. (Fort Louisbourg is in Nova Scotia, and was a key site during the pre-war years as well as the later years of F & I War.) The picture on the left is of three Rangers from Horst' company and the groom himself (second from the left). Don Keleher is in his ancient tartan. The second picture is of the bridal couple, who, appropriate to the time, brought each other down the aisle. The "aisle" consisted of two lines of soldiers, the French on Deb's side and the British on Horst's side. (Nearest the front is John-Eric Nelson who ran the Fort Ticonderoga events for many years, and who was Lord Howe for the Death of Lord Howe.) Deb's dress was made by Beth Gilgun, who is well-known in the F&I circuit as an expert on 18th century life for the distaff side. This dress is amazing. Horst is wearing a special jacket and waistcoat he had made, his kilt and and a sporan, his cap and other parts of his uniform, and his sword. I, for one, think they look fabulous! |
