Chauncey's '00 Season

Legend
indicates Rogers' Rangers, French and Indian War
indicates King's Rangers, Revolutionary War

May 20-21: French and Indian War: Jumonville, Uniontown, PA. There's a reason for our going to this site, and perhaps you are curious about why we go to Jumonville.

June 10-11: Revolutionary War: Strawbery Banke, Portsmouth, NH (and visit their Strawbery Banke website for more information).

June 23-25: French and Indian War Grand Encampment at French and Indian War Grand Encampment at Fort Ticonderoga. (See also the Fort Ticonderoga website.)

July 1: Salute to Veterans, Greenwich, CT, an all-day public "time-line" event on the school grounds; we were there for the French and Indian War.

July 12: OpSail2000, New London, CT. And be sure to read in article about the King's Rangers, including mention of Pvt. Chauncey, Major Mike, and our Indian Scout Jonas, in the July 13 issue of The Day from New London, CT.

August 2-4: F&I Canoe trip down the Connecticut River, to retrace the steps of Robert Rogers and the Rangers following their raid on St. Frances. And August 5-6, Fort at No. 4, NH. Fort 4 described this as "French & Indian War Weekend: Step back in time to a dangerous era and watch as British Regulars help the Fort 4 Militia defend their homes and families against the Native and French forces. Find out what dangers the settlers faced and how the Doctors dealt with disease and wounds. Hear the Native side of the story and why the French were their allies."

August 11-13: French and Indian War Grand Encampment at Crown Point, NY. This is known as Fort St. Frederic until the British captured it from the French in 1760. My Ranger unit did not go officially but three of us went anyway. Two joined another Ranger unit; while I was there with James Rogers' Company of Rangers, this group ended up fighting for the French.

September 8-10: Revolutionary War Encampment at Fort Ticonderoga, NY. I and fellow King's Rangers joined other Crown forces to defend the King's interests against the rebel Yankee scum.

September 16-17: French and Indian War Tactical at Fort Wallenpaupac, PA. This was a private tactical event, not open to the public.

September 23-24: Historical Time Line at Lebanon, CT. We were there representing the French and Indian War.

October 9-13: French and Indian War Tactical at Lake George.

October 14-16:Fort at No. 4, NH. Fort 4 described this as "A portrayal of Robert Rogers' company of men [THAT'S US!!!] as they return from their raid on St. Francis. Be on hand to view the return of the Rangers in the morning by raft and watch the Fort 4 Militia go out to fetch the survivors. Hear the stories from the bedraggled men themselves." This of course we more or less re-enact with the canoe trip from Wells River to the Fort at No. 4 in August. However, this October event at the fort was preceded by one week at Lake George in a private tactical. Yes, all week we were hiding in the woods looking for French to fight. So after a week of that, we could look pretty darn emaciated and bedraggle.

November 11: Veteran's Day Parade, Naugatuck, CT
